    PR – The World Cup is coming to Liverpool!

    This press release is to announce that the 2012 Liebherr Men’s World Cup will be coming to Liverpool as part of the English Table Tennis Association’s increased programme of international events, and will mark the start of national and regional promotion.

    The World Cup is coming to Liverpool!With top sporting venues such as Goodison Park and Anfield, the 2008 City of Culture, Liverpool, will play host to a wealth of top international athletes, when the Liebherr Men’s World Cup table tennis event heads to the Echo Arena from 28th-30th September.

    This will be your chance to see Olympians competing in the North of England and as the first major tournament after Olympics, the Liebherr Men’s World Cup could see the competitive debut of the new Olympic Champion and is one of the highest profile events on the International Table Tennis Federation’s calendar.

    The tournament will consist of an elite group of 19 players, made up from the Olympic and World Champions, four Intercontinental Champions (Africa, Latin America, North America and Oceania), a home nation wild card, an international wild card and the highest ranked international players.

    Fighting for pride, honor and a share of the expected £150,000 prize fund, the Echo Arena will host some truly awe inspiring displays athleticism and skill this September, as the English Table Tennis Association continues to bring top flight competition to these shores.
